The Iowa Feed In Tariff effort got more national press
coverage in the Huffington
Post today by Craig Lewis of the
Clean Coalition . Senate Democrats have been “sitting” on this legislation,
bending to massive lobbying by the utility industry, apparently forgetting
about all those signs they posted around Iowa last November expressing support
for renewable energy. It’s time for them to step up and clear the way for
farmers to participate in the states wind industry. IDP Chair Sue Dvorsky said last November - “The wind-power industry is helping Iowa
build our manufacturing base, create jobs, lower energy costs and strengthen
Iowa’s energy security, all core priorities of Iowans, and a privilege we take
very seriously.” Iowa has built quite a bit
of wind energy. Now legislators should focus on keeping our wind energy locally
owned.
